Today officially is the first weekend of Quinnipiac Orientation and I'm not there. Gladly, I am handling it better than I thought, due impart to how happy I have been down in Auburn, but a big piece of me will forever be at Quinnipiac and Quinnipiac Orientation. This is the first QU Orientation in 5 years I won't be at...I attended 13 consecutive June Orientations (I worked all 3 weeks for 4 years and I had attended the last weekend my own freshmen year), it was quite the streak. I am sure Kyle, Conor and all the OLs are doing a fabulous job and I can't wait to hear about how things are going or went. I think I agree with the sentiment of a lot of my other QU Orientation die hards...looking back QU Orientation is something that I am very proud to have been apart of...it is a wonderful tradition and experience that inspire more and more students and student leaders each year. I think I gave Quinnipiac Orientation all that I had and maybe more, but the funny thing is...is that I got just as much back from the experience and the program.
That experience and inspiration I received at Quinnipiac, especially through Orientation has led me exactly where I am today. I'm so thrilled to be sharing my love and passion for what I do with a whole new group of people, as well as learn from them. Today completed session 2 of Orientation here at Auburn and it was glorious. Both sessions have run so well, to the point that I am at times amazed. It's funny how it doesn't matter where you are, but college students, parents and the people who love working with them are the same where ever you go, but at the same time I am learning something new constantly. This summer experience thus far has been the best learning laboratory for me thus far, because I learn best by doing or watching and that is EXACTLY what I am getting down here. I can't believe I've only been here 3 weeks and gone through 2 sessions...I feel very comfortable and confident here.
Despite the dysfunctional sarcastical people on staff especially... Mark, Star, Melissa, Jamie, Wes, Kedall, Doc, James, Mary Martha, Keith and Charus...we are one heck of a group and I have enjoyed working with all of them very much. It's nothing but good times down here so far...and I've done so much bragging about Auburn that Ms. Colleen Powers is flying down to visit me and the wonder that is Auburn in July...so I am verrrrry excited. It will be suuuure to be a great time.
I've actually lost my train of thought because I started this blog a few hours ago when I woke up from my nap...but then I went out to dinner with 11 fabulous Auburnites? War Eagles? Camp Peeps? Tigers? regardless I went to dinner with some of the Auburn Crew and it was like a 3 hour meal because it took soooo long...they were verrry slow at O'Charleys, but I did show everyone the trick with the 2 forks and 2 tooth picks that Josh (from UConn) taught me...it was quite the hit.
Ok I am exhausted...I am going to lay down and watch season 8 of friends on DVD (and watch the Thanksgiving episode with Brad Pitt...tear...that reminds me of last summer living in the hill with Michelle and watching that episode of friends EVERY CHANCE we got).
