It's a small world afterall

A small "tradition" that Mark and I have developed before camp starts is to look through the master list of students coming to see if any of them are from NY or CT. Well for the past 5 sessions there were a few NY, but they were from upstate (which doesn't really count...sorry Julie & Meg, I was more interested in if any Long Island people were coming). If my memory serves me properly there had not been any CT people at orientation. Well session 6 as we're scanning the list I see CT and I look to see which town and it's CHESHIRE (Chesire is the town right next to Quinnipiac). So I got really excited and saw that his name was Dan and that he was in group 31, Bo's group. I was curious why this kid would come alll the way to Alabama, when such a glorious and wonderful college was in the town next to him, but then I thought maybe this kid is a swimmer, because Chesire has a insanely good swim team and Auburn has been ranked number one in men's and women's swimming for the past few years. So later the first day before the pep rally started I went over to Bo and asked him to point out Dan. So I walk over to their group and Bo tells Dan to come over (Dan looked like he was afraid he was in trouble or something...haha). Bo introduced us and said Jenn is a fellow Northerner. So then I told Dan that I went to Quinnipiac for undergrad and he got all excited (I'm sure he wasn't expecting to meet someone who knew where he was from etc). I asked him about why he came to Auburn and sure enough he is a diver and was recruited for the swim team. So we talked for a hot minute about good ol' Chesire, it was nice to have a little piece of home down in Auburn to a certain extent.

Speaking of a little piece of home, Mr. David "Cookie/Kitty" Daniels is coming to Auburn tonight! For those of you who stalk my life, but don't know everyone in it David was the other grad hall director that I worked with this past year at UConn. David is from Birmingham and is home for a few weeks before moving out to Cali to start his full time hall directing job at Santa Clara. David and I shared an office this year which was pure craziness, hence the Cookie or Kitty nicknames. But I am excited to see David, I told him that if he was in Alabama and didn't see me I'd be verrrry sad, but YAY he's coming. Talking to David about the south and Alabama was part of the reason that I was completely terrified of coming to Auburn and even why I applied for the internship in the first place. I remember vividly talking to David about Auburn and trying to make decisions. I already miss sharing an office with him because it was a comedic form a therapy I swear. We're read e-mail aloud or give each other advice, or just vent...it was a grand time, but David knows that I will be calling REGULARLY to sing to him on the phone or make cat noises or other crazy things we did in the office. Hopefully I'll be moving out west myself next year and can meet up with DD more (DD another nickname...similar to Dunkin Donuts...it's funny in my office this year David and I were the grads and our supervisor was Mark and we were all double initials. DD=David Daniels, MM=Mark McDonald, JJ=Jenn Johnson).

Well I am off to lunch with Star and we all know that she hates to be starving so I gotta run.

War Eagle!

P.S. Much appreciation, thanks and love to Natty Lite and Melissa (you know why)
